Prepare for the holiday shopping season with transaction management tools

Cash counters and check processing solutions are valuable tools for retail organizations that expect to chart strong sales numbers during the upcoming holiday shopping season. Despite a struggling economy, many U.S. businesses are feeling relatively optimistic about the potential to leverage an increase in consumer spending between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

According to the most recent forecast from the National Retail Federation, industry-wide sales numbers will likely increase by 3.9 percent to $602.1 billion during November and December. This increase is 0.4 percent higher than what retailers were able to process during last year's holiday season.

"While neither robust nor pessimistic, this is a realistic forecast of the industry's expectations," NRF Chief Executive Matthew Shay said in a press release.

The Lincoln Journal Star, a Nebraska-based newspaper said many small retailers are feeling especially positive about the upcoming holiday season because they have been able to differentiate their businesses from e-commerce competitors. Local retailer Keith Heckman, who owns Dietze Music, told the newspaper consumers prefer the in-store experience when shopping for certain types of merchandise.

These companies can benefit from utilizing tools such as check scanners and money counters during the holiday season, when people are more likely to make larger purchases and purchase gifts. Updating technology and using the latest cash counters is imperative, especially as more consumers may be paying with the new $100 bill, and businesses need to be ready to accept the banknote.
